Camp…Bring it on!

Do you like group
workouts that challenge you, really push you and motivate you to work hard?
Then Boot Camp is the program for you. This is a small group program that
combines hard-core cardio training with strengthening and toning
techniques. This program teaches you what calisthenics really is, and it’s
not for the faint of heart. You don’t need a lot of fancy equipment to get
stronger and build your endurance. Come prepared to sweat and push yourself
to your limits as we incorporate drills, plyometrics, intervals, jumping
rope and a ton of other exercise techniques to get your day off to a good

Participant Feedback
"Thank you
for running AHA! Boot Camp. Boot Camp creates community on Capitol
Hill and it makes exercise FUN! Tuesdays and Thursdays I wake up at
5:45 am wondering what hit me and then I think of the smiling faces
and laughter with our instructor around the Mary McLeod Bethune statue
in Lincoln Park. I'm out of bed in no time. I'm someone who goes in
and out of exercising. I have 1 marathon and several half marathons/10
milers under my belt, but I still need some motivation to get out
there. I was at Boot Camp this summer and then I took a 4 month break
and I had no idea how much I missed it. Right now, believe it or not,
AHA! Boot Camp is my only exercise. The energy I get from it carries
me through the whole week! If you are reading this, you may be
thinking, is Boot Camp for EVERYONE? YES, young professionals, young
parents and mothers of young professionals. I'm in Boot Camp this
November with my mom and that is HUGE for her! AHA! Boot Camp is
getting my mom exercising for the first time in a LONG time. Thank
you." - Ashley
"I lost 14 pounds, my butt
is tighter, my legs are thinner and my arms are much more toned.
Working out with a fun group of people was instrumental in keeping me
motivated and coming to class. I was able to eat without feeling
guilty because I knew I would be working off whatever I took in. It's
hard work but well worth the effort. I look forward to AHA! Boot Camp
2007!" – Rick (April – November)
"Since high school I've
relied on running to stay in shape (with mixed results!). I'm also
someone who needs a wee bit of peer pressure to get me out the door in
the morning, so when my running buddies kept moving off the Hill, I
started Boot Camp. I used to think a little calf definition was the
pinnacle of my excercise achievement and now I have muscles I'd never
seen before. Who knew you could have good looking arms in six short
months?! And the sore back I used to get from letting my over-sized
children sit on my hip hasn't made an appearance in months. Boot Camp
is such a well-rounded, full body work out that everything just feels
fitter and firmer. I also love that the only equipment you need is a
jump rope, which means you can take the workout with you wherever you
go. I highly recommend Boot Camp for anyone who wants a well-rounded
work out, yearns for their youthful days of jump roping, or needs a
little peer pressure to role out of bed in the morning (or resist the
temptation of happy hour in the evening)." - Mandy, (April - October
06)
"I am so pleased with my
results from boot camp. I feel INCREDIBLY fit! My body really responds
to that sort of training. I hope I can incorporate what we did in my
own routine....but jump rope for 2 minutes straight? It will be VERY
tough! Thanks a million." - Eme (March –
August)
"I've been meaning to email you for a while now to let you know how
positive my boot camp experience was. I'm unable to return (we're
moving to NYC), but it was exactly what I needed. It kick started me
on the road to getting fit. I even ran (the whole way for 42 min.!!)
the Race for The Cure, thanks to your boot camp. Thank You!!"
- Kim Frietze (March & April)
“I've had membership at gyms and attended
various exercise programs, but was always intimidated & turned off by
the fitness crazy people that I couldn't keep up with. That changed
when I joined boot camp with A Holistic Approach, where it became FUN
to exercise with a group of people just like me…people who struggle to
make exercise part of their daily routine. Alicia is the first person
who could make me laugh and enjoy my workout!” -- David
"I was getting bored with my regular gym routine
and needed more of a challenge. Luckily I found Alicia’s Boot Camp!
The outdoor setting and group dynamic have been excellent motivators.
I was a little intimidated at first, but now find myself signing up
for a fourth month. Alicia is supportive but makes a point of not
letting you slack. No matter what your level of fitness or goals might
be, I recommend you try this class because you will get results, meet
some great people, and have fun getting fit! — Michele (July to
October)
“AHA's Boot Camp has really motivated me to get
– and stay -- in shape. The instructors are knowledgeable,
understanding and supportive while making sure participants get a
great workout. Doing Boot Camp gives me more energy and confidence.
It's hard work but worth every minute.” – Molly
“I don’t know if I’ve
been ‘in shape’ since about 8th grade. But here I am 5 maybe 6 weeks
into Boot Camp and that sinking feeling of despair is behind me. It’s
such a cyclical feeling of failure when everything you try fails and
you just think nothing will ever change and there isn’t much I seem to
be able to do about it. Now, at least I am up and moving and have
pushed through the excuses and bad feelings. Can’t say I’ve lost any
weight but it is shifting and my body just needed to move – I can tell
that my body is processing everything better including food, stress,
hormones, and much needed energy. I know it will take a while to
really be fit, but I’m beyond getting started and that for me is a big
step. The women in the morning are great to be with too.” – Jen
